2020: 6TH MASSACHUSETTS THESPIAN FESTIVAL
Individual Events (IEs) are master classes for student artists to showcase their skills in front of an audience of peers in musical theatre, acting, and technical theatre. Student artists receive ten minutes of coaching with guest artists to help hone their craft. Master classes range from monologues to musical theatre duets to lighting design to stage management, so check out all the events!
All students wishing to present must register in advance. Students who receive the highest ranking are eligible to perform at the national level, and inducted thespians are eligible for scholarships.
The master classes are open to all festival participants to attend as audience members. In attending the master classes, students can choose technical theatre classes where they experience multiple designs presented by high school technicians in all areas of technical theatre from costume design to scenic design. Students learn first hand how each technical design is brought from a concept to reality and works toward a collective artistic vision.
The acting and musical theatre master classes provide students with a framework for how to develop their own artistic style and hone their craft as they approach acting and musical theatre works, especially monologues and solos. Students get to see first hand how to take and receive a note from a coach or director and how to identify theatrical excellence.
While our one-acts celebrate the achievements of our troupes, individual events are the time for our stars to shine.
